Just wishing you all a Merry Christmas and weather permitting, see you all at Cottenham. Been very frosty around Bury St Edmunds but not had too much snow as can be seen from the attached picture taken the other day at Bradfield St Clare. Oh to be in Deauville for the festivities with the new nag!!
All the best to you Ray, many thanks for your speedy results service through the season, keep up the good work. This keeps me up to date with the P-T-P. world, as I am unable to get to many meeting now.
We are now in the 2nd month of the 2010/2011 season and on most web sites the message traffic is miniscule. Surely this reflects the very stop / start nature of the season. A meeting on the 5 December, then a planned gap of four weeks (Reduced to three weeks due to the adverse weather) until the next Cottenham and now a further fortnight's break until Ampton followed by a further break until Higham. There is currently no momentum and the P-to-P committeee surely need to think again about the fixtures for next season. It is time to think again about December pointing - how I yearn for the return of the Cottenham evening meeting.
I agree. I'm not a fan of the stop/start fixtures we have at present. I would rather start in early January and go through until late April/ early May with no interruptions, weather excepted. I too remember the Cottenham midweek evening fixture and would certainly like to see something like that back in the area.
There is an evening meeting at Higham this year, Saturday May 7th. 4.00pm start, 6.30 finish. Was the last evening meeting at Cottenham mid 80's? I seem too remember the daylight was fading fast by the time of the final race.
They certainly had the midweek fixture in the early 90's. I spoke to the area point-to-point chairman today Stephen Howlett who said that the reason for the gaps in the early season programme was to allow for postponements due to adverse weather.
Far be it from me to question the area chairman but how often have we had hard Decembers. I agree the stop/start policy is a grave error and I trust those who make the decisions will realise the errors made. Looking forward to Sunday
