Marks Tey might have been unraceable first thing on Thursday morning, but so was Huntingdon!!!! At 11am it passed an inspection.
Ampton was called off far too early in opinion, (it was raceable by Friday!!) providing the Weather doesn't get any worse and it's not meant to hopefully racing will go ahead!!
i am going to be positive.. gut instinct.... good temperatures forecast for tommorow and saturday... lets hope it all goes ahead.. it s so very frustrating to be a trainer or jockey at the moment.(whoops and an owner too.. ) The horses are having to be worked and the more you work them the more they are likely to hit a problem before they run.. come on weather do your stuff!! stop start , think i should have been a flat trainer... summer racing, winter racing on the all weather to keep you ticking over, and warm winter holidays!!!!!
Personally, I hope you get a cold snap and put the meeting back a week...I've got two to bring up from Kent and we've got six inches of snow that's putting the go slow on preps!
I think the time has arrived for the Hunts to ensure that walkovers are avoided at all costs.
People are paying a lot of money to get to and get in to the races and a collection of six moderate long standing maidens for example should be available when races have a walkover or a match race threatening.
I think in terms of point-to-points, the Hunts are in the entertainment business and should act as such.
I'd be interested to hear what the "powers that be" have to say or shall we have the oft happenings of two walkovers, three matches and a cavalry charge of five for a concluding poor maiden at bank holidays ?
