A special mention to the commentator Steve Payne for doing such a sterling job given the visibility at the track was crap. I won't be at Marks Tey next week but Mike Ashby has kindly offered to post the results on here. Sadly I'm suffering from the scourge of the drinking classes. Work!

I totally agree with you Ray about Steve, think he did a fantastic job,,, apologies to all who may have backed the Storm, i did what i could, but i should have waited till after the last and he would have won.
I have decided to hang up my lovely black boots today... realising that i am a bit too old for the changing room now, and i find it increasingly hard to do both jobs at the same time. I have had THE best racing experiences i could ever wish for, 56 odd winners, a fine ride around Aintree, the best 3rd at Cheltenham on board the remarkable Placid Man, a double, and the privilege to have sat on many many wonderful horses.
As for my kicks now, away from racing i plan to bike from Lands end to John o'Groats in september for the Bob Champion Cancer Trust... 1000 miles in 10 days... YIKES!!!
