I walked the public footpath today that goes through Ampton racecourse, The ground was perfect for racing. So maybe this is a lesson learned in calling off The meeting so far in advance.
On the face of it racing could have taken place, but there has been very little time to prepare the course.
Another point to consider would be that only a few days ago everyone thought, myself included, that racing was an impossibility. Given that this was the perceived position, the organisers could have been accused of throwing money around by printing programmes and running up debts that they were unlikely to recoup.
Walter, can you tell me if the hunts have a insurance policy taken out against the loss of a meeting due to adverse weather conditions. That way you could recoup some of the expenditure thats involved in setting up a race day?
