An excellent afternoon - don't think I've ever seen Cottenham in the sun before! Very hectic with two divisions and we couldn't pick a winner if our lives depended on it, but still had a good time. Roll on the next meeting
A big vote of thanks to the organisers for putting on such an excellent meeting. The course was in excellent condition - I don't think I've ever seen it better; the fences were immaculate and the new positioning of the winning enclosure and partial resiting of the bookies both seemed to work well.
Speaking of the bookies, the over-rounds on the some of the races were some of the highest I've seen - approaching 200% at times... Still, there was some good value to be had.
The winners enclosure has now been moved inside the parade ring at the end where the bookies used to stand. This means the horses parading for the next race have slightly less room until the winners and connections have left but that's not a problem as the ring is very long.
All the bookies pitches are now along the side of the track whereas before there was also a line across the end of the parade ring.
There was also a refreshments van near the tote which seemed a good idea.
The refreshments van near the Tote is an excellent idea. The organisers have also seen common sense about letting everyone into the grandstand. Preferred the winner's enclosure where it was, personally. Otherwise, an excellent day.
